Workplace Triggers

Turn a spot on the map into a real workplace with a wage and a clock.

In the dairy year

Not every hour is a field hour. A yard job, a night watch, a place you stand and get paid. Winter cash can come from a trigger you placed, not only from milk.

This is a side chapter. The herd is still the spine.

The feel

Place a trigger. Name it. Set a wage. You are on the clock when you are there. It is a legitimate workplace on any map, not a hidden cheat tile. No 3D clutter. Just a named zone.

How it works

Press F4 to open the Workplace Manager. Add a trigger at your current position. Name it (Post Office, Feed Mill, Grandpa’s Workshop), set a wage, a pay schedule, a time multiplier, and a zone radius from 1 m to 300 m.

Three pay schedules, chosen per workplace:

Schedule How you are paid
Hourly Wage × in-game hours worked
Flat rate A fixed amount at the end of every shift
Daily Wage × in-game days worked

Time multiplier per trigger: Auto (follows server game speed), ×1 real time, ×3, ×5, or ×10.

Walk into the zone and press E to start. Press E again to end and collect. Leave the zone and a 10-second countdown appears. Step back inside, or within 8 m of the edge, to cancel it. If the countdown expires the shift ends and you receive 20% of what you had accrued.

While on shift a HUD shows the workplace, time elapsed, and current earnings. F7 enters edit mode so you can drag and resize. Position and scale save with the farm.

The last 50 completed shifts are logged: name, duration, payout, schedule, and in-game day.

On a dedicated server each player tracks their own shift. Earnings go into the shared farm account. The host owns the events. Triggers sync to clients on join.

Languages: English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish.

If NPC Favor is loaded, completing shifts can build standing with the NPC you work for. If Worker Costs is loaded, shift income can sit next to AI wages in the books. Both are skipped silently when those mods are absent.

How you use it

  1. F4 → Add.
  2. Name it, set wage, schedule, time multiplier, and radius.
  3. Walk in. E to start. E to finish.
  4. Keep the wage honest. A workplace you forget is a story you are not playing.

The outs

Income Mod is another baseline. Time Guard can keep the clock honest. Tax sees the year. None of them merge into a single “finance overhaul” product. They are separate zips.

What you need

This mod alone is a workplace. Skip it if your dairy year is only dirt, herd, and books.

How it connects

In the dairy year these sit next to this chapter. None are required.
