In the dairy year
The walkthrough is not one difficulty. Economy, labour, agronomy, disease, livestock, neighbours, how often the world throws an event. Slide them up for a hard year. Slide them down for a gentler one. Turn a system fully off and it behaves as if that mod were not installed.
Winter planning includes those dials. A new player should be able to stand the soil down without uninstalling the zip.
The feel
Admin settings sync on the host. Heavy changes apply through a queue so the farm does not hitch. The Farm Tablet System Settings app is the player desk for the hub. Companions keep their own fallback if the hub is absent.
How it works
This is mod 4 in the load order. Companions hand it their settings and one callback. The hub owns a throttled queue so a heavy slider (rebuilding a large array) applies in the background, at most two changes per frame, instead of freezing the game.
Setting types are on/off, whole numbers, decimals, and named lists.
Admin settings are shared. A client’s change is a request. The host checks the master user, applies, persists, and broadcasts. Only a host-approved value ever fires on a client.
Player-local settings (show HUD, and the like) apply immediately on this machine and persist to FS25_SettingsHub_local.xml. They do not overwrite another player’s prefs.
Admin values persist through State Ledger when that core is present, inside the one atomic suite save.
The Farm Tablet System Settings app reads the hub’s module list. The hub does not call into the tablet. If you skipped the tablet, companions still ship their own settings doors.
There are no settings of its own. Install it and leave it loaded.
Console: shStatus lists registered modules and the pending callback queue.
How you use it
- Open System Settings on the tablet, or the companion’s own settings if you skipped the hub.
- Prefer “off” over deleting a zip mid-year when you only want a quieter chapter.
The outs
Most companions can register here. The year stays one farm with many volumes, not six scattered menus that disagree.
What you need
Optional bedrock. The tablet’s System Settings app expects it. Companions still ship their own doors.
How it connects
In the dairy year these sit next to this chapter. None are required.
