In the dairy year
A contamination scare, a subsidy, a trade deal. Summer markets move. Winter books show the swing. You did not schedule it. You can still farm through it.
Difficulty includes how often the world throws something. Off means this chapter is silent.
The feel
Dozens of events, a settings screen, and a physics layer that makes machines feel less like toys. Two playthroughs should not rhyme.
This is not punishment for its own sake. It is weather for the economy and the yard.
How it works
More than 45 events across four categories. Frequency (1–10), intensity (1–5), and cooldown (1–240 minutes) are yours. Only one event runs at a time. A cooldown stops spam. Settings save per savegame.
| Category | Count | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Economic | 15 | Subsidies, booms and crashes, tax refunds, seed / fuel / fertiliser discounts, insurance, export windows, crises |
| Vehicle | 10 | Speed boosts, free fuel, fuel leaks, minor accidents, fleet repair bills, engine trouble, a loose-axle pull, low traction |
| Field | 10 | Yield bonuses and penalties, fertiliser effectiveness, growth speed, harvest modifiers, field sale-price shifts |
| Special | 10 | Time acceleration or slowdown, XP swings, money multipliers, durability changes, trade bonuses, town festivals |
Vehicle events use the game’s real physics: speed cap, top speed, acceleration, and steering. On loose ground (field, mud, snow) a traction governor eases throttle and speed. A steering-pull event tugs the wheel the way a loose front axle would. Those effects restore cleanly when the event ends.
Press F9 (or rweTest in the console) to fire a test event.
Defaults: frequency 5, intensity 2, cooldown 30 minutes, notifications and warnings on.
The in-game settings screen has an Events tab (categories, frequency, intensity, cooldown, notices) and a Physics tab (traction layer on loose ground).
On the Farm Tablet the Random World Events app shows status, the active event, and the frequency / intensity dials.
How you use it
- Enable the events you want. Silence the ones that do not fit your table.
- Read notices. Then look at the Market app before you dump the stack.
- Expect the unexpected on a long dairy save. That is the point.
The outs
Market Dynamics is where many swings become a price. The tablet can surface the event. Settings Hub can hold the dial. None of them are required for events to roll.
What you need
This mod alone changes a playthrough. Markets make the money readable. Optional.
How it connects
In the dairy year these sit next to this chapter. None are required.
